Goals

Our goals are to contribute to encouraging the presentation of NZ theatre, and to raise public awareness of and appreciation for New Zealand theatre.

Vision

Our vision is to celebrate and elevate NZ theatre.

Our Values

NON-CURATORIAL
NZ Theatre Month is emphatically non-selective, embracing any organisation, individual or institution that makes, generates or appreciates NZ theatre.

ECLECTIC & INCLUSIVE
NZ Theatre Month respects that theatremakers address many different subjects in many different ways for many different reasons, come from a wide range of geographic, cultural and financial backgrounds and deliver work in many different ways at many different locations.

DIVERSE
NZ Theatre Month acknowledges the diversity of subject matter, those who make NZ theatre and of their audiences.

NON-JUDGEMENTAL
NZ Theatre Month is adamantly uncritical of any NZ theatre work or other undertaking.

How we celebrate and elevate

We focus the public’s attention through different strategies that identify and highlight performances, readings, discussions and exhibitions of NZ theatre in September.

We measure our accomplishments by the number of NZ theatre productions, readings, exhibitions and related events mounted during September, and by the public feedback we receive.
